Work With Us

St Mark’s Academy in Merton is an inclusive Christian community with the motto of “transformation for all”. Our Principal Hannah Fahey joined us as an NQT and has enjoyed an exceptional journey with the school, and we’re ready to do the same for you.

Our commitment to personal and professional development is second to none, and we are one of just 12 Steplab Hub Schools in the United Kingdom which celebrates our commitment to instructional coaching for all teaching staff and teaching assistants. Our award winning CPD programme is at the heart of mission to ensure that all members of our community live life to the full and transform professionally at St Mark’s.

What’s more, we have achieved three of the 12 strands included as part of SSAT’s Framework for Exceptional Education with the highest possible ‘transforming’ mark: leading with moral purpose, quality assurance, and climate for learning. We’re determined to become one of few schools in the country to attain the remaining nine strands within the next year – and we’re keen for you to help us get there.

We are always keen to hear from our teaching and non-teaching colleagues, who are thinking of starting a new role or looking to take on their next career step. While we may not be advertising for your ideal role at this time, please do get in touch and we will be able to discuss our upcoming recruitment needs. HR@stmarks.anthemtrust.uk

Enrichment and equality are at the heart of everything we do: every student undertakes at least one enrichment activity each week and we maintain multiple student voice groups that regularly meet with the Principal. In short, we are a community driven by stakeholder feedback and a school where students’ mental health and happiness is paramount. Our comprehensive well-being offer for staff is underpinned by our values of love, hope and trust and demonstrates our commitment to supporting our staff to thrive.

Our bespoke approach to responsive teaching using Cognitive Theory, Memory and Metacognition (CTMM), boosts memory retention via cutting-edge research into cognitive science. It’s just one of the reasons why outcomes at this academy are in the top 10% of all school sin the country for progress at Key Stage 4 and attainment at Key Stage 5. Upholding such standards within the classroom means that behaviour here is exceptional with suspension rates far below the national average. As well as this, behaviour is centralised, demonstrating our commitment to ensuring that teachers can focus their time on teaching transformational lessons.

The support we extend to Early Career Teachers is equally unique: in addition to school-wide CPD, we have a specialist CPD programme for ECTs so that everybody can achieve their full potential and teach the St Mark’s way. We are proud of the internal progression of ECTs at St Mark’s make and our retention of teachers new to the profession showcases the care, love and training that is offered.

As a member of Anthem Trust, we benefit from all the resources of an active multi-academy trust whilst retaining all the advantages of being a smaller standalone school. As a result, you can expect exceptional benefits including flexible working where appropriate, a pension scheme, medical and healthcare package, and a great working location in a vibrant part of London that’s easy to reach by public transport.

This is a place where both students and staff undergo incredible journeys, unlocking talents they didn’t even know they had. Join us and you can make the next step in your career a giant leap.
