Geography

Our aim within Geography at St Mark’s is to enable pupils to understand and thrive in the ever-changing world in which we live. Geography inspires students to become good citizens by exploring their unique place in the world, their values and their responsibilities to other people and the environment.

Geography at St Mark’s encourages an interest in and sense of awe and wonder about the world around us. It builds on students' own experiences and enables them to understand and make sense of our constantly changing world. It explains how places and landscapes are formed, how humans interact with their environment, and how the world is now globally interconnected.

Our skills based approach to learning allows pupils to develop an appreciation and geographical awareness of different cultures and traditions. Through the teaching and learning that takes place pupils develop the skills required to interpret the landscape around them and understand the positive and negative impact humans are having on our world. Students learn to develop practical skills through the use of maps, visual images and new technologies.

Geography GCSE is with the AQA examination board.
