Proud to be part of

Merton Citizens Founding Assembly

We were very honoured to host the public launch of the Merton Citizens at St Mark’s Academy on Thursday 19 April.

Merton Citizens is an alliance of 18 bodies including St Mark’s, other schools, churches, mosques, and hospitals, all working together to make a difference in our Borough. Merton Citizens build the capacity for people to participate in public life, to act together for the common good, to win change and to strengthen civic institutions in the process.

This was the first ever official assembly of Merton Citizens. The leader of Merton Council, Cllr Stephen Alambritis (Labour) as well as Cllr Daniel Holden (Conservative) and Paul Kholer (Liberal Democrats) were here responding and making commitments to our campaign issues: affordable housing, rubbish, welcoming refugees and mental health. Members from all organisations in the alliance gathered in this evening in an atmosphere of togetherness and hope for change, boasting attendance of just under 300 people.

We are proud to have hosted this event and to be just one of two schools in this community group. Together, we know we can influence change in Merton for the greater good.
