St Mark’s Celebrates Best GCSE Results!
St Mark’s Academy is celebrating a phenomenal set of GCSE results with improvements in all measures!
Today our fantastic students have achieved results well above the national average. After our headline measures significantly improved last year, we have continued on our amazing journey of increased success, now with a Progress 8 score well above national average at 0.23.
This result is even higher when including our students who have come to us with no primary school data making a third of a grade better than the national. This exceptional result is an increase of almost half a grade since 2016. This year our students achieved an average grade of a strong C+.
We are very proud that in both English and Maths, students have performed above the national average with their performance in English significantly above the national average. Three students walked away with a top grade of a 9 in English Literature and one student gained a grade 9 in mathematics putting them in the top 3.5% in the country. One of the students Olu commented that “My teachers completely dedicated their lives to ensuring that we achieved the best grades possible and my grades today are a testament to that.”
It is clear to see that St. Mark’s is able to offer all students the opportunity to achieve academically. Thanks to fantastic staff, strong leadership and relentless school improvement we are consistently providing an exceptional educational offer to the students and families that we serve. We continue to be committed to academic and character excellence and provide this through our values of love, hope and trust.
“It has been a complete privilege this morning to see the students receive the grades that they did. As Principal, I am extremely proud of the achievements of all our students and the support received from staff.” Ms Lisa Peterkin, Principal.
