What Our Students and Staff Say
Teacher of Music
This is my second year teaching Music at St Mark's. I love the fact that I teach all the pupils in Year 7 and 8. Seeing so many young people grow in confidence as performers is fantastic and getting to know so many faces straight away makes me feel even more at home in the inclusive community around school. Apart from this, a real highlight of my week is teaching GCSE learners who are some of the most driven young people I have met.
The best thing about my job is being able to join in with all the fantastic music making going on, whether that be assisting a composer with their creative process, conducting our choir at Southwark cathedral or singing along to a class full of brilliant ukulele players!
At St Mark's, I feel motivated to try to be the best teacher I can be. This is because I am inspired by the staff and young people I work with; all of whom are always ready to take on new challenges and push themselves to the next stage of excellence. Working with the learners really feels like a partnership and it is an honour to teach young musicians who are so resilient and innovative.
