Modern Foreign Languages at St Mark’s Academy

The autumn term was very exciting term for MFL at St Mark’s Academy. In September we introduced Italian GCSE which has been very popular. We’re planning a trip to Rome next Spring – it will be great to order a pizza in Italian for real!

We’ve also started Spanish in Enrichment so pupils will soon have a great choice of languages: French, German, Italian or Spanish!

At St Mark’s we like to make full use of technology to help our learning and the MFL Department is no exception; pupils can now practise all four languages on ‘Eurotalk’ which has been installed across our network for independent learning. You score points for each activity completed and a certificate is awarded for high point scorers.

Best of all it’s fun! Any pupils keen to develop their language skills outside lessons can also come to the MFL club at lunchtime. This provides more opportunities to practice speaking, check your homework, listen to foreign music and even watch foreign films!
