The Scottish Play - Year 10 study Macbeth
On Wednesday 15 th November, sixteen Year 10 GCSE Drama students
went to the New Wimbledon Studio Theatre for a workshop and performance
of Shakespeare’s Macbeth. The workshop was lead by the show’s
director and one of the actors.
After the initial shock that they would be required to move and
take part in the workshop the Year 10 pupils threw themselves in
to some very silly and embarrasing warm up games.
During the workshop
the pupils focused on the witches in Macbeth in order to tie the
work in with their classwork on witchcraft and Arthur Miller’s ‘The
Crucible’. They worked on some dialogue from the play and performed
sections on the stage.
After lunch they watched the performance of Macbeth on the stage
they had performed on that morning.
Back in school the following
day the pupils talked about their experience. Everyone had felt
they had learned something from the day and felt that it had been
very enjoyable.
