Proud to be part of

GCSE Results Day

St Mark’s is once again celebrating another set of exceptional GCSE outcomes. Our provisional Progress 8 score is an impressive +0.44. This shows that, on average, students have achieved almost half a grade higher at St. Mark’s than they would have done at other schools. This year, ALL subjects have performed extremely well. Lisa Peterkin the Principal said; “These results are incredible. I am so proud of every student as they have all worked tirelessly to meet the challenge and rigour of these examinations. The whole community is celebrating and everyone should be exceptionally pleased with how they have done, it’s just wonderful. They now have the whole world at their feet and this, following on from our impressive KS5 results last week, just shows how St. Mark’s is now firmly established at enabling the young people of Merton to achieve incredible results at every level. I could not be happier.”

As the only Church of England secondary school in the borough we are extremely pleased to acknowledge that 12 students achieved a top grade 9 in Religious Studies, with 44% of the students achieving a top grade 7 or above. Students also achieved incredibly well in History, with 33% of the students achieving a top grade 7 or above.

Again, the English and Maths results are equally as strong with a combined progress score of +0.47 in English and +0.26 in Maths. This is a phenomenal achievement and showcases the impressive work that every teacher has done to ensure the students are fully prepared for all their exams.

Many students have achieved top grade 9s; Melanie Happi-Timbou has achieved grade 9s in English Literature, RE and Science.

These outcomes are testament to our incredible body of staff, the supportive families in our community and, above all our exceptionally dedicated and hardworking students. Ms Peterkin continues; “It’s an absolute privilege to be leading such an incredible school that really is changing the life chances of these amazing young people we serve. These results are well deserved and I will look forward to seeing just how far these young people will go.”
