St Mark’s Academy Sixth Form is a nurturing and caring environment where students will receive 1 to 1 guidance and target setting to help them achieve their target grades. The Academy’s Sixth Form benefits from a refurbished and state of the art Sixth Form Centre (opening in September 2012) and teaching rooms along with high quality career guidance, enrichment opportunities and a designated supervised study space. Our designated sixth form co-ordinator holds 1:1 progress meetings with both parents and students on a half termly basis to ensure that students are on track to reach their target grades. Intervention, if required, is both high impact and bespoke allowing students the tailored support they need to be successful.
The Academy offers a wide range of ever expanding courses to meet the needs of our learners. We offer a mix of traditional AS/A Level courses and more vocational BTEC Level 3 courses. Each course is delivered by carefully chosen and highly skilled teachers who will support students through the curriculum content in engaging, enjoyable and challenging lessons. Each subject issues preparatory work as well as regular homework exercises to allow students opportunity to read widely on the subject they are studying in class and to inform their learning.
All students who join the Academy’s Sixth Form have an opportunity to join to join the Academy Council. Representatives meet with the Sixth Form Leadership Team on a half termly basis to discuss areas of Sixth Form life from subjects on offer to Sixth Form social activities and suggest how the Academy can develop to suit the needs of the learners in our care.
