Sociology

The course will cover the following five areas; Studying Society, Research Methods, Education, Mass Media, Crime and Deviance, as well as other concepts, topics and ideas which you can apply to everyday life. Sociology aims to develop your understanding of modern society through sociological research methods. It will also help develop your ability to analyse and evaluate information to be able to discuss issues and reach logical conclusions.

The course is assessed by examination only. This consists of three written papers:

1.      Society – culture, socialisation and identity.

2.      Family, Mass Media and Crime

3.      Sociological research
