St Mark’s Church Of England Academy – Application details
Rationale
St Mark’s Church of England Academy has a distinctive Christian ethos which is at the heart of this Academy. We provide an inclusive, caring and supportive environment where children learn and flourish in a setting shaped by Christian values. We welcome applications from all members of the wider local community and we ask all parents to respect the Christian ethos of our Academy and its importance to our community.
The Governors of the Academy are committed to developing an inclusive Academy that reflects the diversity of the local community.
Application for year 7 2013/2014
Applications will be made through the Merton Central Admissions www.merton.gov.uk/admissions . There are 180 places available for application.
- 120 are open places – application through Merton Central admissions
If St Mark’s is oversubscribed then the following criteria is applied. Families will be required to complete a supplementary form (click here to open) when applying.
- 40 places are designated for students families are faithful and regular worshippers in an Anglican or Christian Church. Written evidence of applicants' commitment to their place of worship (in the form of a clergy reference) will be required at the time of application.
- 20 places are designated as Governors’ places, to be offered to pupils whose families are members of another faith community and who live within the deaneries of Merton, Lambeth South, Croydon North or Sutton. Written evidence of applicants' commitment to their place of worship (in the form of a faith leader’s reference) will be required at the time of application.
Casual Admission
St Mark’s will consider applications for years other than year 7 if the year group has a place available. Please find included in this pack an application form should you wish to apply. Each year groups has 180 places available.
Sixth Form Admissions
An application form is required to be completed. Candidates would be expected to meet minimum course requirements. If applying from an external school a report and reference will be necessary. Entry to the Sixth Form will be dependent on places being available on the course applied for.
