COURSES - Curriculum Offer 2010/2011

Our 6th form offers a mixture of traditional A level courses, BTEC courses at levels 2 and 3 as well as vocational courses. Our specialisms of Science and Performing Arts mean that we have the resources and expertise to encourage students to develop confidence, understanding and skills in these areas. We offer exceptional levels of suipport, care and learning both with your studies and in planning your future.

level 3

Requires at least 4 grade Cs at GCSE, though requirements will be higher for some courses.

BTEC Diploma

All Level 3 students should choose one of these. Equivalent to 3 A levels – full time course. These courses will enable you to progress on to related degree courses at most universities: Art, Media, Music, Performing Arts, Science, Business, Public Services

AS Levels

Level 3 students should choose one of these. These courses will be as a subsidiary to the BTEC Diploma you have chosen: English, ICT, Maths, Psychology, Sociology, Critical Thinking, Religious Studies

Level 2

Requires at least 2 grade Ds at GCSE.

BTEC

All Level 2 students should choose one of these. A merit grade or above in these courses will enable you to progress to Level 3: Business, Art, Health and Social Care, Music, Performing Arts

With European Computer Driving License, Sports Instructors Award. BTEC Workskills or AS level

vocational courses

Require a commitment to and an aptitude in this vocational area.

Hair & Beauty Level 1

Construction Level 1

Health and Social/Child Care Level 1

All of these are full time courses  which will include literacy, numeracy and work experience.

GCSE – Re-sit exams

These are available only for Maths and English and can be taken if you did not acquire grade C or above in either subject. A minimum grade E is required to take a re-sit exam.

All sixth form students will also be able to benefit from:

Free membership to Canon’s Sports Club; Free ISI Card ;Religious Education; pastoral and study support (using our Higher Education partners); Targeted Information, Advice  & Guidance; Personalised careers /UCAS guidance; supported and accredited volunteering with St Marks & the London Borough of Merton; Young Enterprise.
